Weekly Wrap: Edition VIII, MMXXV

This previous week, February 25th-March 3rd, the Iron Plainsmen Robotics team primarily focused on competition preparation, specifically driving practice. The Manufacturing & Design team spent most of the previous week fine-tuning the robot's elevator mechanism and assembling spare parts to take to competition in San Antonio. They also completed CAD designs for the climber mechanism and participated in driving practice. The Programming team tweaked the drive train code to make the robot a little faster after the Manufacturing & Design team removed weight from the frame and installed smaller motors on the arm and slider mechanisms. The Programming team also coded sensors to detect when a coral is present in the arm mechanism, allowing the robot to move faster from the coral station to the reef in both autonomous and teleop. The MMA team continued daily documentation of the team's progress throughout the week and began to organize it into a binder that will be given to judges in the pit. The team completed an outreach project for a local student with a disability by creating letter stencils on Onshape. Additionally, members completed the business plan and safety manual, and assembled competition binders for both documents. Finally, the MMA team manufactured team buttons to give out at competition and generated graphic concepts for special buttons. The Iron Plainsmen Robotics team has watched the week one game film to scout out competition, review strategies that other coral robots are doing, and recognize common mistakes that pop up. Overall, the team is extremely confident about the upcoming competition in San Antonio and looks forward to announcing the official drivers of the team this season!
