In 1989, FIRST® (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics was founded by inventor, Dean Kamen, with the intention of building a new sport where students could compete intellectually, molding generations of innovation. Since then, FIRST® has challenged students each year to research, design, and build robots while constructing foundations for the future. Alumni of FIRST® Robotics have continued to innovate, creating new technologies to better the future.
