Current Season

2024 CRESCENDO®

The 2024 Crescendo® Challenge was a season of innovation for the Iron Plainsmen Robotics team. The 2024 season saw the development of the first field-centric swerve drive system, alongside additional coding efficiencies. Furthermore, our team filmed, edited, and published its first-ever robot reveal video, and released brand new materials for the SAFETYCENTRAL Initiative. Our Manufacturing and Design team experimented with all-new Kraken brushless motors, and implemented custom-manufactured parts from our new laser and CNC machinery. Our Marketing, Media, and Awards team found success throughout the season, earning Safety and Innovation in Control Awards at the Waco District Competition, and re-introduced buttons. Throughout the year, our team battled fierce competitors during matches in the Waco and Amarillo District Competitions to finish 119th in the State of Texas. The 2024 season taught our team hard work and dedication, and provided us with a springboard for the 2025 season. The Iron Plainsmen Robotics Team (FRC 4734) is proud to represent Lubbock, Texas, and continue to grow and innovate each year. As we prepare for the 2025 Reefscape® Challenge, we seek to continue in our progress and invite students to join in on "The Hardest Fun You Will Ever Have."

MONTEREY HIGH SCHOOL

Opened in Lubbock, TX in 1955, Monterey High School has since become a designated T-STEM Academy (2017) by the State of Texas, offering many programs to prepare students for professional careers in STEM fields. Of the many offerings, Monterey High School offers PLTW (Project Lead-The-Way) courses in Engineering, Biomedical Sciences, and Computer Science, and has an outstanding robotics team, the Iron Plainsmen Robotics Team, which competes in the FIRST Robotics Competition and Battle-Bot-Style robotics during the spring semester. The Iron Plainsmen Robotics Team has participated in FIRST Robotics since 2013, and utilizes technical facilities at Monterey High School including an advanced Computer Lab, and dedicated Workshop space filled with professional machinery. We would like to thank Lubbock ISD and Monterey High School for their continued support, funding, and facilities which allow us to reach more students, teaching vital skills for success in STEM each day.
