Weekly Wrap: Edition I, MMXXV

Weekly Overview

This previous week, January 8th-11th, the Iron Plainsmen Robotics team kicked off this year's competition REEFSCAPE®! Overall, the team has made immense progress and has advanced quickly compared to years prior. As a whole, the team officially solidified game strategy and robot functions and is moving quickly toward prototyping many mechanisms. Firstly, the Manufacturing & Design team deconstructed a past competition's elevator to reuse most of its parts then began prototyping a similar elevator that best suits this season's game. Additionally, they started and finished the sliding mechanism that will be joined to the elevator for transporting and depositing coral onto the reef. Finally, the team also built, transported, and set up all pieces of the practice field as well as prototyped a practice drivebase to allow for driver practice to begin this week. Meanwhile, the Programming team worked closely alongside the Manufacturing & Design team to finalize strategy for autonomous and teleoperated functions. Additionally, the Programming team proceeded with their own endeavors; including, Limelight color detection for coral and algae, AprilTag detection, and centering. The team also introduced new members throughout the week, and they worked through past year's code to familiarize themselves with old operations while also generating new ideas. The team will continue to work with the Manufacturing & Design team to host tryouts for this years drivers! Simultaneously, the Marketing, Media, & Awards team contributed to the setting up of the practice field as well as managing daily and weekly documentation with the aspiration of winning the Documentation Award. Other awards such as the Woodie Flower's Finalist Award, the Judges Award, and the Dean's List Award are primary focuses of the MMA team. Finally, the team pursued the recruitment of new members. In conclusion, the Iron Plainsmen Robotics team has made groundbreaking advancements in their overarching design for this season!
