These past three days, February 4th-6th, the Iron Plainsmen Robotics team has made strides in the development of mechanisms for the robot, marking a significant phase in our build season.
On Wednesday, the 4th, the team successfully installed the belly pan, which serves as the foundational floor for the robot. This crucial step allowed the team to visualize the completed structure they wanted for the robot. Additionally, the team developed two possible designs for the climber that everyone agreed on. Outside of the technical work the team does, they also completed the design for the team's brand new jerseys!
Then, on Thursday, the 5th, the team continued their momentum by focusing on modifying the floor rollers of the robot. These rollers required modification in order to ensure they would fit between the swerve modules. The and shaped them. The team then dedicated time to mapping out the configuration of various components on the robot so everything would fit. Finally, they completed prototypes for the climber piece.
Today, the 6th, the team directed their efforts to redesign the feeder mechanism, which is important to how the robot intakes the game pieces. Additionally, the team worked on the bumper mounts to ensure the robot meets all size requirements. Briefly, the team lost the climber prototypes that had designed the day before! Luckily, they found the prototypes again fairly quickly. Finally, the team, having had challenges with the shooter mechanism, was able to address the issue and get it to properly perform its purpose.
The Iron Plainsmen are eager to continue their lightning pace as they move forward with more and more progress on the robot every day. Each day has new challenges and accomplishments, and the Plainsmen are dedicated to seeing their hard work pay off in upcoming competitions!
