Daily Brief

Today, February 20th, the Iron Plainsmen Robotics team received new Kraken X44 motors which the Manufacturing & Design team will use to switch out the older Kraken X60 motors in the arm and slider mechanism to reduce the overall weight of the robot. The Programming team finalized an autonomous code that has proved itself very efficient and score effective. The MMA team finished the bill of materials and plans to print out it along with the rest of the business plan and safety manual tomorrow. Overall, the team is focusing on removing as much weight as possible from the robot and refining mechanisms to prepare for competition.

Narrowed Overview

The Manufacturing & Design Team

The Manufacturing & Design team noticed the top bar of the elevator mechanism began to bend due to the tension from the pulleys connected to the arm mechanism. Although this hasn't created any issues for the team as of now, members felt it would be best to manufacture a lighter top bar for the elevator and fix the bending issue. The team will complete the new part and install it onto the elevator within the next couple of days. Lastly, the Manufacturing & Design team completed their portion of the bill of materials and handed it off to the MMA team so they could add it to the business plan!

The Programming Team

The Programming team took a trip to the practice field today to test out what they believe to be their finalized autonomous code. The robot can efficiently deposit the preloaded coral game piece, collect another coral and deposit it, and park in front of the coral station in the autonomous portion of the match. The robot can do this from every starting point on the field and is proud to have such a solid autonomous strategy.

The Marketing, Media, & Awards Team

The MMA team received the bill of materials from the Manufacturing & Design team and completed inputting all the data into the business plan for it to be printed out and organized into a competition binder. Within the next couple of days, the team will have both the safety manual and business plan printed, organized, and ready to present to judges in the pit! The team will also begin more rigorously interviewing the team's two Deans List Award nominees as competition inches closer!
