Daily Brief
Today, February 14th, the Iron Plainsmen Robotics team began the day by questioning the team's two Deans List Award nominees over a multitude of FIRST-related questions to better prepare them for tough competition. The Manufacturing & Design team resolved a bumper issue they created at yesterday's practice and continued to help the MMA team complete the lengthy bill of materials. The Programming team completed the LED strip project they began a couple of days ago and successfully installed the strips onto the robot. The Iron Plainsmen Robotics team looks forward to holding yet another driving practice tomorrow!
Narrowed Overview
The Manufacturing & Design Team
The Manufacturing & Design team realized they had made a mistake mounting the bumpers onto the robot yesterday so the group spent much of today's practice taking the bumpers off and remounting them. Other members continued to work with the MMA team to create a bill of materials that will be included in the team's business plan at competition. The Manufacturing & Design team will be present at tomorrow's driving practice and anticipates any malfunctions the robot may experience while on the practice field. The team will use the practice to refine and fix any issues they see present.
The Programming Team
The Programming team completed their LED strip project, including coding the colors that coordinate with the current configuration of the robot and attaching the LED strips to an area of the robot that will not disrupt any other mechanisms or movements. The team executed this plan to be able to easily pinpoint from the driver station what configuration the robot elevator and arm mechanism are in, which will make solving the issue much easier by determining whether the malfunction was caused by coding or driving.
The Marketing, Media, & Awards Team
The MMA team has completed updating the business plan with exception to the ongoing bill of materials. The team worked with the Manufacturing & Design team to advance the list of parts used on the robot and calculated the total cost of the robot. Once the two groups complete the bill of materials, the MMA team will be able to cross that task off their pre-competition checklist, print out the plan, and organize the plan into a binder to present at competition. With that being said, the team began refurbishing the safety manual and will continue to do so for the next few days. Additionally, the MMA team questioned the team's Deans List Award nominees yet again to get them prepared for their interviews in Amarillo, TX!
