Daily Brief
Today, January 30th, the Iron Plainsmen Robotics team spent the day with one of the team's long-time sponsors, Optimum®! The company's representatives visited the Iron Plainsmen campus to connect with its members, hear about the team's upcoming season, see the robot in action, and pass out merch. The team is extremely grateful to have face-to-face opportunities to connect with the community and share the love of FIRST®! After the team finished meeting with Optimum®, they split up into their usual teams. The Manufacturing & Design team developed the wiring, 3D parts, and the ground intake for the practice robot. The Programming team worked hard on controls and commands for the practice robot, as well as replaced a few motors. The MMA team completed documentation for the day, and they made progress on awards and the Safety Manual. In total, the Iron Plainsmen Robotics team managed to make great furtherance in all of their goals today, and they were glad to meet with one of their sponsors!
Narrowed Overview
The Manufacturing & Design Team
The Manufacturing & Design team began their day by showing the representatives from Optimum® around the workshop. After this, they made great progress on organizing the wiring of the robot. They are proud to say they completed the ground intake and are positioning it onto the practice robot. They have also nearly finished 3D printing other parts for the robot. They are incredibly satisfied with the steady progress!
The Programming Team
The Programming team started the day by ensuring that mechanisms still worked after they had been hooked up to the practice robot. After, they helped hook up the arcade controls so that buttons would accurately carry out the movement for that button. Then, they started working on programming for the algae intake. Finally, they replaced a few motors on the practice robot. They've made great strides and leaps over this past week and hope to continue doing so!
The Marketing, Media, & Awards Team
The MMA team networked with some of Optimum®'s representatives, showing them around the workshop and classroom the Iron Plainsmen Robotics team works out of. After communicating with Optimum®, they went to work on documentation for the day. Additionally, the team made large advancements on preparation for the Dean's List Award. Finally, they refurbished the Business Plan and the Safety Manual. They are hoping to be fully prepared to put the binders for the Business Plan and the Safety Manual together by next week.
