Daily Brief
Today, January 23rd, the Iron Plainsmen Robotics team discussed grades with progress reports coming up soon and ensured that all members are passing or have a plan to be passing all classes by the end of this week. The Manufacturing & Design team worked closely alongside the Programming team today, working on the elevator mechanism simultaneously. The Manufacturing & Design team also began building the coral station ramp which will be their main task for the next couple of days. The Programming team solely focused on programming the elevator motors to stop at each level of the reef, to which the robot will then deposit coral game pieces. The MMA team photographed the other groups at work, documented their progress, and tackled awards. The Iron Plainsmen Robotics team maintains a steady pace and continues to make progress every practice!
Narrowed Overview
The Manufacturing & Design Team
The Manufacturing & Design team completed version one of the elevator mechanism and installed it onto the practice frame that the team will use during driver practice. Additionally, the team finished wiring the elevator and handed it off to the Programming team so they can program the motors. Finally, the group began constructing the coral station ramp, which will be used on the practice field once completed. The Manufacturing & Design team hopes to finish the coral station ramp within the next couple of days and move on to prototyping more mechanisms!
The Programming Team
The Programming team focused most of the practice on programming motors on the elevator mechanism. Following the Manufacturing & Design team's completion of the mechanisms wiring and installment, the Programming team now has more time to tinker with the part. The group coded the motors to stop at the correct heights to which the coral will be deposited onto the reef. The elevator mechanism will be able to deposit coral pieces on L1, L2, and L3 once finalized. The Programming team looks forward to finishing programming the elevator motors to allow for ample driver practice time!
The Marketing, Media, & Awards Team
The MMA team extended their focus on recruiting members to ease the workload as the season kicks off. The team continued to document and organize the team's progress in a way that is readable and tastful. Additionally, the group manufactured the professional button design they will give out at competition while also generating concepts for a more creative button. Finally, the Deans List Award nominee practiced answering interview questions and advanced on the Woodie Flowers Finalist essay. The MMA team hopes to have the essay finalized and submitted by sometime next week!
