Daily Brief
Today, January 9th, the Iron Plainsmen Robotics team debriefed daily goals and set expectations for days to come. After meeting as a whole, the team dispersed into respective teams: Manufacturing & Design Team, Programming Team, and MMA (Marketing, Media, & Awards) Team. The Manufacturing & Design Team finished mapping out the soon-to-be-used practice field, emptied out the toolbox in preparation for traveling, and began prototyping an elevator mechanism that the team is considering. The Programming Team's main focus is AprilTag recognition, which they plan to rely on for autonomous and teleoperated functions. The MMA Team has narrowed down specific awards they aim to concentrate on, some being the Judges' Award and the Woodie Flowers Finalist Award. The team is looking forward to solidifying strategies, and preparing for the upcoming 1st Scrimmage Day!
Narrow Overview
Manufacturing & Design Team
The Manufacturing & Design team began the day by progressing the practice field setup so that it could be used as soon as possible. Members began prototyping a sliding mechanism that will be used on the elevator component to deposit and/or obtain coral while other members got the ball rolling on the Y extension with wheels that will be used as an arm mechanism. Finally, the team's CAD experts continued designing concepts for ground intake mechanisms! The Manufacturing & Design team hopes to have the elevator prototype and Y extension completed by this week's upcoming Saturday practice!
Programming Team
The Programming team continued to work on AprilTag detection which will be most helpful when obtaining and depositing coral. Additionally, the team hopes to work alongside the group's strategists to plan out common routes that will be taken in autonomous to then avoid collisions. Finally, the team looks forward to driving practice and holding tryouts for this season's new driver!
Marketing, Media, & Awards Team
The MMA team started the day off strong by photographing team members working that will then be used in the extensive daily documentation binder and blog posts on the Iron Plainsmen website. Additionally, the team discussed nominees for the Deans List Award and began interviewing all interested members. However, the MMA team is focusing on other awards as well, including the Gracious Professionalism® Award, the Judges' Award, and the Woodie Flowers Finalist Award. The MMA team is hoping to make updates to the website, safety manual, business plan, and documentation binder in the near future!
